Bertazzoni range tops
A Bertazzoni range top is the cooking deck off a range with a cabinet underneath instead of an oven — thirty-six inches of brass burners and cast grates, or an induction deck, set into a counter. Above the counter it is the range you know. Below it, the controls, the valve bank and the gas manifold sit in a cupboard, and that is what makes it its own appointment.

What goes wrong with it
Symptoms we are called out to on Bertazzoni range tops
Each one covers the likely causes in the order they are worth checking, and what to do in five minutes before booking anything.
-
Spark, gas, or seating Burner will not light
It clicks and nothing catches, or one burner lights and the others do not, or there is no click at all. Nineteen of the thirty-four surfaces in this line are gas, and two of the four things that cause this cost nothing to put right.
- Clicking with no flame
- One burner out while the rest are fine
- No click and no spark at all
-
The low flame goes first Burner will not hold a simmer
A burner that is perfect on high and will not stay lit on low, or that goes out when the pan goes on. The simmer is where a marginal burner shows itself first, months before anything obvious happens at full heat — which makes this an early warning rather than a breakdown.
- Fine on high, drops out on low
- Goes out when a pan is set on it
- A low flame that is uneven round the ring
-
Usually the cabinet, not the cooktop Induction zone cutting out
One zone stops mid-cook while the rest keep going, or the whole surface shuts down under load and comes back a few minutes later. Twenty-eight machines in this line are induction, and the cabinet under the counter is the answer far more often than the appliance is.
- One zone quitting while the others carry on
- A code that clears and returns
- It happens with a big pan and not a small one
-
Check the lock before the board Cooktop controls not responding
A touch panel that answers some presses and not others, a knob that turns and does nothing, or a surface that ignores everything. A real share of these are a control lock or a wet panel, and both cost nothing to rule out.
- Some pads working and others not
- A lock symbol nobody can clear
- A knob that turns freely and changes nothing
What we do on it
Repairs we carry out on Bertazzoni range tops
Starting figures for this equipment in South Florida. The exact cost is confirmed after an on-site diagnostic — and this is not the whole list of what can go wrong, so call if your problem is not here.
-
from $95 Diagnostic visit
We work out what is actually wrong before anybody quotes a part. On this make that usually means measuring rather than reading, because most of these appliances report nothing at all when they stop. The fee is credited toward the work when you go ahead.
- Measured rather than guessed — resistance, current, temperature, airflow
- The free causes checked first, before any part is named
- Credited toward the repair
-
from $155 Range burner & ignition repair
The commonest call on this make by a distance. A burner that clicks and will not catch, catches and drops out, or will not hold a simmer. Twenty of the thirty-seven ranges here are gas or dual fuel and every one of them lights the same way, so this is one job across most of the line.
- Spark, sensing and gas supply separated before any part is named
- Caps and ports cleaned and seated — the two free causes
- Every burner run and watched before we leave, not only the one you called about
-
from $135 Brass burner service & rebuild
A service that exists here and on no sibling site, because ten of these ranges and ten of these cooktops use solid brass burners. Brass rewards being cleaned and punishes being scoured, and a burner most people would replace is usually a burner that wants an afternoon and a paper clip.
- Caps, rings and ports cleaned by hand — never with an abrasive or a caustic
- Ports gauged rather than eyeballed, so the flame comes back even
- Replacement only for brass that is cracked or eroded, and we show you why
-
from $175 Griddle & grill zone repair
Sixteen of the thirty-seven ranges here carry a cast iron griddle across the middle of the cooktop, and it is its own heated zone with its own control. When it heats unevenly or stops heating, the rest of the range keeps working perfectly — which makes this one of the more contained repairs on the site.
- The zone tested on its own, because it is its own circuit
- Twenty minutes of warm-up before anything is called uneven
- The burners either side left working while a part is on order
-
from $225 Induction cooktop & range repair
Thirteen induction ranges and fifteen induction cooktops — the largest induction line on this fleet. There is no published code table for any of them, so what settles an induction call is the cabinet under the counter: whether the boards have anywhere to send their heat.
- The code read and interpreted before the counter is opened
- Cabinet ventilation checked first — the usual answer in a Miami island
- Each zone tested under load with a pan the coil can actually see
-
from $145 Cooktop control & dial repair
A knob that spins without doing anything, a touch panel that answers some presses and not others, a control lock nobody can clear. None of these is the cooking part of the appliance, all of them stop it being used, and most are among the cheaper repairs on this site.
- Knobs, switches and touch panels treated as three different repairs
- Control locks and settings ruled out before any part is named
- Every position exercised through its full range before we leave

About Bertazzoni range tops
The deck off a range, with a cupboard where the oven would be
A Bertazzoni range top is thirty-six inches of the same cooking surface the ranges carry — brass burners on cast grates, or an induction deck — set into a counter with cabinetry beneath. Kitchens choose one to put the ovens at eye level somewhere else and keep the cooking where the cooking happens.
Above the counter, the repair is the range repair: burners, caps, grates, igniters, valves. Below it, nothing is the same, and that is what decides how long a visit runs.
What we are called out for
- A brass burner lighting unevenly. Ports under the cap, and clearing them is free.
- A burner that will not simmer. The valve, or a gas supply stretched across several burners at once.
- Igniters clicking after the burner has lit. Moisture, until the deck is dry and it still does it.
- Knobs and the front panel, which sit directly under the deck in the hottest and most spilled-on place in the kitchen.
The South Florida part
A range top sends its heat down into the cabinet it stands over. In a kitchen that is not conditioned all summer that cabinet gets warm, and where it shares a run with a wine column or an undercounter refrigerator, the cold appliance complains first. The call arrives about the cold one; what changed is next to it.
What to have ready when you call
The model number from the plate under the deck or behind the kick panel, whether it is gas or induction, which burner or zone is affected, and whether the problem is lighting, simmering or the controls.

Questions about Bertazzoni range tops
What is the difference between a range top and a cooktop?
Where the controls are, and what is underneath. A range top carries its knobs on a front panel below the deck, has cast grates edge to edge, and sits over a cabinet. A cooktop drops into the counter with its controls in the surface and can have almost anything below it. They look alike across a kitchen and share very little on a parts list.
One brass burner lights on one side only.
That is the port ring under the cap rather than the igniter, and it is the most common call on this equipment. Lift the cap, check it is seated square on its ring, and clear the ports — this is a real fix, it costs nothing, and it is worth doing before booking anything. A burner that still lights unevenly with clean ports and a seated cap is a gas-side visit.
It will not simmer any more.
A burner that runs but will not go low is usually the valve. The other honest possibility on a thirty-six inch deck is the gas supply being asked for more than it can deliver with several burners running, which is an installation question rather than an appliance one — and we would rather establish which it is before quoting a part.
How do you reach it with a cabinet underneath?
From inside that cabinet. A range is pulled forward on its feet; a range top cannot be, so the valve bank, the manifold and the spark module are reached from below, which means emptying a cupboard and working in it. That is the whole reason we ask what you have before we arrive rather than discovering it in your kitchen.
