Bertazzoni griddle & grill zone repair
Sixteen of the thirty-seven ranges here carry a cast iron griddle across the middle of the cooktop, and it is its own heated zone with its own control. When it heats unevenly or stops heating, the rest of the range keeps working perfectly — which makes this one of the more contained repairs on the site.

01
Give the iron time
Cast iron takes a long while to come up and is uneven the whole time it is doing it, so ten minutes in is not a fair test. We run it for twenty with nothing on it before measuring anything, because a good half of these calls end there.
-
02
Measure the zone, not the range
The griddle has its own element or burner, its own control and, on the electric versions, its own sensor. All of it is measured separately from the burners either side, which is why the diagnosis does not depend on the rest of the range being switched off.
-
03
Check the plate itself
A cast iron plate that has warped no longer sits flat on what heats it, and no amount of element work fixes that. It is worth ruling in or out early because it changes the conversation from a repair to a part.
-
04
Prove it across the surface
Heat measured at both ends and the middle after a full warm-up, not a single reading in the center. Even heat across a griddle is the whole point of one.

Griddle & grill plate repair cost
Eighteen appliances in this line carry a cast-iron plate with its own burner, its own valve and its own ignition. It fails on its own while the rest of the top is perfect, and it is set above the burner row for the access rather than the part.
- The 18 machines with a plate: 16 ranges, 2 cooktops
- Its own burner, valve and ignition — a separate circuit
- The plate comes out before anything is reachable

All gas · Dual fuel · Induction · Brass burners · Cast iron griddle · 30" · 36" · 48" Bertazzoni range repair in Miami
Thirty-seven ranges in the current line and the reason most people know this maker at all. Eleven are all gas, nine dual fuel, thirteen induction; ten of them run brass burners and sixteen carry a cast iron griddle across the middle. A 48-inch range is two ovens, six burners and that griddle in one machine, and any one of those is a reason to call. Almost none of it announces a code when it stops — this is a make you diagnose by what it does, not by what it displays.
- A burner that clicks and will not catch, or catches and drops out
- The oven running hot or cold with nothing on the display to say so
- The griddle heating unevenly while the burners either side are perfect
-
Induction · Sealed gas · Brass burners · Rangetops · 24" · 30" · 36" · 48" Bertazzoni cooktop repair in Miami
Thirty-four surfaces: nineteen gas, fifteen induction, and nine of them rangetops rather than cooktops — the same repair under a different word. Ten run the same brass burners as the ranges. The induction tops publish no code table — the maker issues installation sheets for them and nothing more — so what settles an induction call is the cabinet underneath and whether its boards can shed their heat.
- One induction zone cutting out while the rest keep going
- A gas burner clicking without catching, or dropping out on simmer
- A code on the induction panel that comes back after the power is cycled

About Bertazzoni griddle & grill zone repair
What the middle of the cooktop actually is
Sixteen of the ranges in this line have a cast iron griddle let into the top between the burners, and some take a grill in that position instead. Either way it is a separate heated zone: its own element or burner, its own control, and on the electric versions its own temperature sensor. That is why a griddle problem is a griddle repair and not a range repair, and why the bill and the disruption are both smaller than people expect.
The three things that go wrong
- It heats unevenly. The element or its control, once cast iron has been given a fair warm-up.
- It does not heat at all. Element, control, or on a gas grill the ignition — and all of those are ordinary parts.
- The plate has warped. Which is not an element question. A warped plate no longer makes contact with what heats it, and past a certain point that is a replacement rather than a repair.
Why we insist on twenty minutes
Cast iron is slow and it is deliberately slow — the mass is what makes a griddle worth having, because it does not drop its temperature when food goes on. The consequence is that it is genuinely uneven for the first ten or fifteen minutes and that is not a defect. Measuring before then produces a diagnosis of a problem that is not there.
What the repair costs
Griddle and grill zone work starts at $175. A cast iron plate, where one is genuinely needed, is quoted separately and we will tell you honestly whether the warp is worth replacing the plate over.

Questions about bertazzoni griddle & grill zone repair
How uneven is too uneven?
After a full twenty-minute warm-up with nothing on it, a griddle should be close enough across its surface that a row of pancakes browns at the same rate. A cool end, a permanent hot spot, or a difference you can see in seconds rather than minutes is a repair. A difference that shows up only in the first ten minutes is cast iron behaving like cast iron.
Can I use the rest of the range while I wait for a part?
Yes, and that is the good news about this repair. The griddle is a separate zone on a separate circuit sitting between burners that are unaffected. Nothing about the ovens underneath is involved either.
The plate has warped. Did I do that?
Usually not, and it is worth saying so. Cast iron warps from thermal shock — cold liquid onto a hot plate is the classic — but it also warps slowly from years of ordinary use, and a plate that has done twenty years of service has earned it. What we can tell you is whether the warp is enough to matter, because a small one often is not.
Mine is a grill rather than a griddle.
Same job, same page. Some of these ranges take a gas grill in that middle position instead of the griddle plate, and it is the same story: a separate zone, a separate control, and a repair that leaves the rest of the range working. The grill has its own burner and its own ignition, which are checked the way any burner is.
