One, and it is expected. The griddle runs on its own valve and its own ignition, so it can fail entirely while the burners next to it are untouched.
My griddle heats hot in the middle and cold at the edges. Is that broken?
Not necessarily. Cast iron takes a long time to even out, and a plate used before it is fully up to temperature behaves exactly like that. If it stays uneven after fifteen minutes, or if it has rocked since a hot-and-cold accident, then it is worth a look.
Can the plate be replaced on its own?
Usually yes, and where the plate is the problem that is the cheaper answer by a wide margin. It is ordered against the model number on the plate behind the kick panel.
