Bertazzoni steam oven repair
Five of these ovens cook with steam, which means a water path as well as a heating one: a reservoir or a plumbed supply, a pump, a boiler, a level sensor and a drain. In South Florida the thing that goes wrong with all of it is scale, and most steam calls end in a descale rather than a part.

01
Establish which kind of machine it is
A reservoir oven keeps everything in front of you. A plumbed one brings a supply, a valve and possibly a filter into the diagnosis, and a leak may be behind cabinetry rather than in the appliance. It changes where we look first.
-
02
Follow the water
Fill, pump, boil, deliver, drain. Each stage is checked in order, because a steam function that has weakened rather than stopped is almost always a restriction somewhere along that path rather than a failed component at the end of it.
-
03
Descale properly, then re-measure
A proper descale is not the twenty-minute routine the panel offers when the water is hard enough. Where scale is the answer, the oven is descaled and then measured again, because the point is to prove the steam came back.
-
04
Run a full steam cycle
Steam produced, held, and the cavity behaving, with the drain clearing. A steam oven signed off without a full cycle is a steam oven that will be called about again.

Steam oven repair cost
Five machines in this line cook with steam, and a steam oven is a plumbed appliance: a boiler, a pump, a level sensor and a drain. Mineral in South Florida water is what eventually stops one, and descaling is cheaper than the repair it prevents.

Eighteen built-in ovens, and they are not all the same machine. Five are speed ovens — a microwave and a convection oven sharing one cavity — five cook with steam, eight self-clean, and three carry the maker's own guided cooking. Two are doubles. What they have in common is that they are built into cabinetry, which decides how a repair starts: the oven comes forward before anything else happens.
- An oven that will not reach temperature, or overshoots it
- A door that locks after a clean cycle and stays locked
- A speed oven that heats on convection but no longer on microwave

About Bertazzoni steam oven repair
What a steam oven actually contains
Everything a conventional oven has, plus a water system: a reservoir you fill or a plumbed supply, a pump, a boiler, a level sensor, a delivery path into the cavity, and a drain out of it. Five of the eighteen ovens in this line work this way. Every one of those components is exposed to the water that comes out of a South Florida tap, and that is the whole story of steam oven repair in this city.
Scale, in order
- First it takes performance. Less steam, slower to produce, food that no longer comes out the way it used to.
- Then it takes the drain. Water standing in the cavity after a cycle.
- Then it takes the pump or the boiler. Which is the point at which a maintenance job becomes a parts job.
The whole aim of catching it at the first stage is to avoid the third.
Reservoir or plumbed
Worth knowing before you call. A reservoir machine is self-contained and everything is reachable. A plumbed machine has a supply line, a valve and possibly a filter behind the cabinetry, and a leak from one of those looks like an appliance leak while not being one. If yours is plumbed and there is water where there should not be, shut the supply off before anything else.
What the repair costs
Steam oven work starts at $225. Where a descale and a water-path service is the answer — which is often — that is the whole job, and we will say so rather than finding a part.

Questions about bertazzoni steam oven repair
The steam function has got weak rather than stopping.
That is the classic scale symptom and it is good news. Scale narrows every passage in the water path gradually, so the machine loses performance by degrees rather than failing outright. A proper descale restores most of these, and it is worth having that established before anybody quotes you for a pump or a boiler.
It keeps asking to be descaled and I keep descaling it.
Then either the routine is not reaching everything or the water is winning. South Florida water is hard enough that an oven used regularly can genuinely need attention more often than the manual implies. Worth checking: that the descaler is the right type, that the cycle is being allowed to finish, and that any filter the machine takes is being changed rather than fitted once and forgotten.
There is water in the bottom of the cavity after a cycle.
A little condensate is normal and by design. A pool is not, and it usually means the drain path is restricted — the same scale story from the other end. It is worth reporting early, because water sitting in a cavity finds the seals and the wiring eventually.
Is a steam oven worth repairing?
Almost always, and mostly because most steam calls are not the oven. The heating side of these machines is as robust as any conventional oven; it is the water path that needs attention, and attention is cheaper than parts. What changes the answer is a failed boiler on an older machine, and we will tell you what that costs before it is ordered.
