Bertazzoni dishwasher control & electronics repair

A panel that ignores half its pads, a machine that starts a cycle and abandons it, a code that will not clear. Because these dishwashers actually publish codes, this is the one place on the site where the electronics can often be diagnosed before anybody opens anything.

  • From $95 diagnostic, credited to the repair
  • 59 cities and neighborhoods covered
  • OEM parts available on order
  • In writing the price, before anything is opened

How this visit actually goes

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

  1. 01

    Take the code seriously

Which code, whether it returns, and at what point in the cycle. On this make that is real information — these machines report properly — and it frequently identifies the sensor or the circuit before a panel comes off.

  2. 02

    Eliminate the cheap impostors

A worn door latch stops a machine as effectively as a failed board. So does a supply problem, a water inlet that is not filling, or a float that is stuck. All of them present as "the electronics have failed" and none of them is.

  3. 03

Separate the panel from the board

The touch interface and the main control are different parts at different prices, and a panel that responds unevenly is usually the interface. Testing tells them apart; guessing buys the wrong one.

  4. 04

    Run a full cycle afterwards

Fill, wash, heat, drain, dry. A control repair proven only by the panel lighting up is not proven, because the board is what commands every one of those stages.

The highest dishwashing row, and the one where the machine's own error table earns its keep: F5, F7, F9 and HI all point here, and the difference between them is most of the diagnosis.

Eight dishwashers, and the one part of this make that talks. Five are tall tub, three standard; one is panel ready and one is an 18-inch. Two run at 39 decibels, which is quiet enough that "it has stopped" and "it is running" can be hard to tell apart. Unlike almost everything else here, these publish a real error table — F1 through F9, plus FF and HI, each with a meaning the maker prints — and a code is worth writing down before you touch anything.

    • A code on the panel that returns after the power is cycled
    • Water standing in the bottom at the end of a cycle
    • A door that no longer latches, or latches and will not start

About Bertazzoni dishwasher control & electronics repair

The advantage of a machine that reports

Nearly everything else this maker builds is diagnosed by measurement, because it says nothing when it stops. The dishwashers are the exception: F5 is the pressure system, F7 overheating, F9 the divisor position and HI the electricity supply itself — real codes with meanings the maker prints. That turns an electronics call from an exploration into a check, provided the code is recorded before it is cleared.

The cheap things that look like expensive things

  • The door latch switch. A machine that will not start, and the commonest answer by a distance.
  • The inlet valve or a stuck float. A cycle that begins and abandons itself.
  • The supply. Resets, half-lit panels, and behavior that looks like a dying board.

All three are ruled out before a control is quoted.

Panel or board

They are separate parts. Uneven response across the pads points at the interface; a lifeless panel over a machine that still fills points at the main control. Establishing which is a test rather than an opinion, and it is the difference between two very different invoices.

What the repair costs

Control and electronics work starts at $215, with the board or the panel quoted for your model once they have been separated. If the answer turns out to be a latch switch, you are charged for a latch switch.

Questions about bertazzoni dishwasher control & electronics repair

It starts and then stops partway through.

Usually the machine detecting a condition rather than the control failing — no fill, no heat, no drain, or water where it should not be. That is why the code matters so much here: it names which of those the machine thinks it has. Write it down before you clear it.

Half the buttons work.

Usually the touch panel rather than the board underneath. These sense through the surface, and moisture, a cracked overlay or a damaged ribbon connection all produce exactly this. It is the cheaper of the two parts, which is why it is worth separating them properly.

Is a board worth replacing on a dishwasher?

Sometimes, and we will tell you honestly when it is not. On a recent panel-ready or tall tub machine, usually yes. On an older machine where a board approaches a meaningful fraction of a replacement, the arithmetic changes — and you get that figure before anything is ordered rather than after.

Can I reset it myself?

Yes, and it is worth trying: power off at the breaker for a full minute, not just the button. What we would ask is that you write the code down first, because clearing it destroys the one piece of evidence the machine gave you. A code that stays away after a reset is a very different situation from one that returns immediately.
